Why Easy Wax beats regular oil-based lube
An honest comparison across the five things that matter most when choosing a chain lube.
| Criterion | Easy Wax (wax) | Oil-based lube |
|---|---|---|
| Chain cleanliness |
Chain and cassette look and stay clean no dirt or sand buildup |
Dirty drivetrain actively attracts dirt and sand |
| Wear protection |
Longer drivetrain lifespan no abrasive wear from sand and dirt |
Fast chain and cassette wear abrasive particles present in the friction zone |
| Ease of maintenance | Easily wiped clean with a dry cloth | Requires cleaning with solvents |
| Mileage |
60–150 km depends on riding conditions |
150–250 km |
| Rain resistance | Washes off faster |
Depends on the formula handles wet conditions well, and washes off slightly slower than wax in dry ones |
Our verdict: for most riding conditions, Easy Wax wax lube is the better choice — the chain stays clean and drivetrain wear is lower. Oil-based lubes are better suited to extremely long, heavy rain. Full breakdown (RU) →

Frequently asked questions about Easy Wax
Easy Wax is a bicycle chain lubricant based on wax (paraffin). Once applied, it forms a dry protective film that doesn't collect dirt and sand, unlike regular oil-based lubes.
Easy Wax barely collects dirt and keeps the drivetrain clean, while oil-based formulas attract dirt and sand, but hold up on the chain slightly better in very wet conditions. Easy Wax lasts 60–150 km per application, versus 150–250 km for oil-based lubes. Detailed comparison (RU) →
Listen to the chain: reapply once it starts making a clear chirping sound — roughly every 100–120 km (based on customer reviews). Wipe down and relube the chain after riding in the rain.
Shake the bottle for 30–60 seconds, drop it onto each chain pin, spin the pedals for about a minute, and let it dry for at least 3 hours (overnight is best). Full instructions (RU) →
Yes. Before first use, clean the chain, cassette, derailleur pulleys, and chainrings with a solvent and degreaser. Never apply wax lube on top of an existing oil-based lube. Full instructions (RU) →
Apply at +15…+30°C (59…86°F). Important: store the bottle somewhere warm — it must never be allowed to freeze.
That's a feature of truly clean paraffin wax lubes — they're thin by design. The thicker a lube is, the more oil it contains, and the more dirt it picks up. If the chain is properly cleaned and degreased, a drop won't run off the pin: hold the bottle level with the ground, tilt it slightly, and press gently — the dropper delivers exactly one drop.
On Ozon and Wildberries. A 150 ml bottle starts at 6 BYN in Belarus and 250 RUB in Russia.
